Cold calling funnel calculator
Start from the sales you want. Enter your own rates to see how many dials it takes and how many reps you need.
The starting rates are placeholders, not benchmarks. Replace them with your own numbers from your dialer and CRM.
How the funnel works
The calculator works backwards. Sales come from meetings (your close rate), meetings come from live conversations (your meeting rate), and live conversations come from dials (your answer rate). Each stage multiplies the one before, so a small gain at the top removes many dials.
Where to get your rates
Use your own history, not a generic benchmark. A few weeks of dialer reports and CRM data give you the answer rate, the share of conversations that book a meeting, and the share of meetings that close. The starting numbers here are placeholders.
What moves each stage
- Answer rate: list quality, the time you call (try the best time to call tool), and number reputation, which is where local presence comes in.
- Meeting rate: your script, who you reach, and follow-up such as voicemail drop.
- Dials per rep: a power dialer removes the time spent finding and typing numbers.
See the worked example in how many dials it takes to book a meeting.
FAQ
What is a good answer rate for cold calls?
There is no single figure. It depends on list quality, your numbers, the time of day and the country you call. Measure your own from dialer reports for a few weeks, then use that.
How many dials can a rep make in a day?
It depends on call length and on the dialer. Automating the dialing removes the time spent finding and typing numbers, so the same rep can usually make more calls. Use your own reports rather than a generic figure.
Why does the calculator round up?
You cannot book part of a meeting or make part of a dial, so each stage is rounded up to a whole number.
